Anette Olzon releases her first album, Shine - March 2014

Since her sudden departure from Nightwish in 2012, Anette Olzon has been working on her own solo album. The writing process apparently started in 2009, and by 2011 she had released two demo tracks on her MySpace page - Floating and Invincible.  Since then Anette has put all of her efforts into getting her first solo album released and at the end of March, that will become a reality, with the release of Shine.
Over the last few months, Anette has released two tracks from the album.  My favourite of the two is Falling:

The other is Lies:

There are ten tracks that make up the album:
1 - Like a Show Shine
2 - Shine
3 - Floating
4 - Lies
5 - Invincible
6 - Hear Me
7 - Falling
8 - Moving Away
9 - One Million Faces
10 - Watching Me From Afar

When interviewed she said:

“I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album, I’ve been working on it for a long time by now. The album is very personal with songs I have started writing already in 2009 but also very recent songs. The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life — making you shine… no matter what.

In the end, it is a rock album. Well, a pop rock album, maybe, or would you call it pop metal?”

Given the tracks she has released so far, pop metal or not, I am really looking forward to hearing the complete collection and will be keeping an eye out for a touring schedule that brings her to the UK.
