Lacuna Coil release their seventh album Broken Crown Halo - April 2014

Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil have released 6 albums to date and have sold over 2 million records throughout their 20 year career.  If the recently released single Nothing Stands in our Way is anything to go by, their new album Broken Crown Halo continues the slightly darker themes from Dark Adrenaline, whilst maintaining their standout Lacuna Coil sound.

The band recently said that "Broken Crown Halo is a cinematic album that could be the soundtrack of our days — it is a dark vision of a near future when survival is second nature, and failure is not something to be avoided, but rather cultivated with lessons learned along the way."

Excitement about this release is rife here in Femetalism Towers.  Even more so, because Lacuna Coil were the first metal band I went to see back in 2009 and they are the band that sparked the interest I have for women's portrayal in metal. Cristina carefully walks the thin line between being empowered and being commodified with great success.

The album is to be released in the UK on 1st April and it looks like the next opportunity we will get to see them play the UK will be at this years Bloodstock Festival. If you want to grab yourself a copy then you can pre-order the album here.
