Bandcamp Series: Terminatryx - Shadow (2014)

Terminatryx are a female-fronted Alternative/Metal/Industrial-Rock band based in Cape Town.  Formed in 2002, the band released their third full-length album in April 2014, part funded by an Indiegogo campaign. Terminatryx blend hard and electronic music with that of the moods created by Sci-Fi, Horror and Extreme movies.  The music is unique and even more so in the band's native South Africa.

The current line up is Sonja Ruppersberg on lead & backing vocals,  Paul Blom on guitars, bass, programming, drums, synths and backing Vocals , Patrick Davidson on guitar and Ronnie Belcher on drums.

Shadow features 11 tracks, one of which is a remix of the title track.

Metropolis
Holy
Scars
Masjien
Shadow
Gone
Purifire
Nothing
Outcast
Medusa
Shadow (Industriezone Remix)

Terminatryx collaborated with a number of artists on the album including Draconian's own Heike Langhans as dual vocalist on the track Outcast. Other collaborators include:

Francois Van Coke (Van Coke Kartel / Fokofpolisiekar) – gang backing vocals on "Holy"
Francois Blom (K.O.B.U.S. / V.O.D) – gang backing vocals on "Holy"
Matthiju Van Dijk (Makabra Ensemble) - violin & orchestration on "The Outcast"
Diccon Harper (V.O.D / Dragonforce / Pagan Altar) - bass guitar on "Holy"
Craig Vee - lead guitar on "Medusa"

Overall, I really love the chugging guitars and the electronic/industrial elements to this album, plus Sonja's vocals are truly haunting.  Excitingly, the band recently released this incredible video for the title track of the album, Shadow:

The album is available from a number of places but can be streamed on Bandcamp.  It is also available to buy in digital format for just $7 USD.
