AONIA FEST, a new metal all-day event, will take place in Birmingham at The Roadhouse on Sunday 3rd May. The event is organised by Aonia co-vocalist Jo and Aonia drummer Tony.
Aonia, the first of three bands to be announced thus far, hail from the midlands and mix NWOBHM, power metal and symphonic metal into one enchanting force of darkened melodies, dual operatic vocals and tragic symphonies.

The all-day event is set to be a celebration of British black metal and aims to showcase some of the best acts in the UK's underground black metal scene.

Hannover thrash legends Cripper released their 4th studio album, Hyëna, on November 21st on Metal Blade records. On the back of a hectic, yet highly successful tour schedule and the now legendary 70,000 Tonnes Of Metal cruise, Hyëna takes Cripper forward and into new waters.
We featured Cripper in an Extreme Thursday way back in February before any rumours of the new album started. Hyëna features 11 tracks of pure Cripper mayhem that are more polished, heavier and louder than before. Retaining the band's core sound throughout, this is a pure thrash record and is rammed full of catchy hooks, thundering basslines and distinctive riffs.

Life. Don't talk to me about life. Brain the size of a planet, and I can't even write a blog post once a week to publish on a Thursday. What's the point, eh? Well, the point is to talk about kick-ass bands who do awesome things, of course. Just because real life (ugh) commitments get in the way doesn't mean there aren't amazing bands putting out fantastic music.
Foued's initial vision of the band was a side-project highlighting Maghreb metal in reference to his Moroccan heritage. He hired Mus El Kamal and Samir Remila to play guitar and bass respectively from the Algerian band Worth. Finally Florent Jannier and Sarah Laysacc from French/Algerian band The Outburst joined on growls and clean vocals respectively, with Florent picking up some guitar duty too.

The festival is being held in The Londesborough, Bridlington, East Yorkshire so there will be plenty of opportunity for land locked sea lovers such as myself to breath in some brisk sea air. Supported by The Crypt of Curiosities, Wolf Band Management and Music Promotion and Black Phoenix Rising and with all proceeds being donated to RapeCrisis there really is no reason to miss out!
From our point of view there are a tremendous number of bands featuring female musicians and so in this quick preview let's have a look at the line up and highlight some of the femetal bands who we will be rocking out to in a few short days.
