Formed in North London, quartet Jackknife Seizure have been steadily honing their musical craft. This is not a band to put into a box easily: their powerful, proggy grunge infused with heavy groove will appeal to fans of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Sabbath and Tool alike and has been described as "the love-child of Mastodon and The Doors."
After being crowned winners of the London Metal 2 the Masses competition in 2014, the band went on to play Bloodstock Open Air and subsequently released their debut EP, Time of the Trilobites; the title track of which appears on our awesome compilation Forged in Stone and Steel Part 2. After a short hiatus, Jackknife Seizure set about gigging and writing new material for their newly released Starfisher: an epic 5-track mini-album which places the everyday struggles for humanity of our world in the context of a vast, supernatural universe – through the usual quirky Jackknife Seizure lens.
Starfisher is another epically long release from the band despite the short track listing. Uniquely Jackknife Seizure, the mini-album packs a punch from the off. The band's trademark riffing, grooves and complex intertwining of sounds are demonstrated over and over, with a fresh vocal style and even a little sneaky interlude to catch you off guard. We are huge fans of the complexity of the bands music and the clear passion behind its delivery, which makes this release an already high ranking highlight of ours for 2017.
Starfisher was released on 16th January and is available in from Bandcamp.
